About.

Christina’s painting is about life as a narrative, as a story that can be told. Drawing from archival material and personal memorabilia her paintings provide glimpses and hints of her own experiences but intermingled with something more universal, more historical. Her method sits between abstraction and figuration playing a game with visual language and the readability of the image to help the painting reveal itself. Figuration, drawing, mark making, colour, patterning and motif are recurring strategies. Currently her focus is on the exploration of emotional and physical distance in the matriarchal line, between mothers’ sisters and daughters.
